On September 19, the Final Gala of the Design Educates Awards 2025 was held at the Warsaw University of Technology. The SKN Urbanmodel team from the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology won the Silver Award for their project “ GZM METROPOLIS GAME.” This innovative board and card game combines quizzes, augmented reality, and 3D models to present the story of the Metropolis GZM in a fresh and engaging way.
The event was accompanied by the “Architecture in Foyer” conference - filled with panels featuring award-winning architects from around the world, who shared their design expertise and insights into new technologies and innovative solutions. An exhibition was also opened, showcasing the projects awarded in this year’s DEA 2025, including “ GZM METROPOLIS GAME.”
A particularly special moment was the meeting with Roger Riewe - architect of the Silesian Museum - with whom our students had a warm conversation and presented a card from the game featuring his museum design.
The award-winning SKN Urbanmodel team was represented by: Karolina Dębczak, Amelia Gałas, Izabela Mularczyk, Justyna Nowak, Julia Pilecka, Magda Sikora, and Paulina Siudyka. Their work is guided by PhD. eng. architect Tomasz Bradecki, Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, whose mentorship has been instrumental in leading the students to international success.
The grand finale of the gala was the presentation of the Design Educates Awards 2025 to our students - for the second year in a row - confirming the strong educational value of their projects.
