The Yanshan University European Institute inaugurated another academic year
For the third time, the academic year of the Yanshan University European Institute has been officially inaugurated. As part of the cooperation of the Chinese university with the Silesian University of Technology, from this year, another 103 people from the Middle Kingdom will study in Poland. They will join colleagues from China who study at four faculties of the Silesian University of Technology: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry as well as Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science.
As part of the Yanshan University European Institute, about three hundred students from China study at the Silesian University of Technology. Welcoming new people within the walls of our University, His Magnificence Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk assured them that they would meet with friendliness, friendly atmosphere, and hospitality in the academic environment.
– “Thank you for having decided to join the Silesian University of Technology for a few years, you will gain here skills and knowledge that will be very useful in your life and professional career” – said the Rector. “We provide you with access to unique laboratories, dedicated and committed teachers will teach you, you will work in an international environment”.
The Rector thanked the authorities of the Yanshan University for several years of cooperation, which resulted in the education of such a large number of students from China at the Silesian University of Technology. The Yanshan University European Institute was established in February 2021, with students starting their first year of study in China and another three studying in Poland. Thanks to the cooperation of both universities, they will earn double diplomas.
– “I am convinced that the Silesian University of Technology will be a place of inspiration for you, I encourage you to immerse yourself fully in this international environment and take advantage of the opportunity offered by the possibility of cultural exchange with students from Poland and other countries” – said Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Chrobok , Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.
Present at the ceremony, Prof. Zhang Wenli, Dean of the Faculty of International Education of the Yanshan University European Institute, thanked the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology for the support of students from China.
– “Silesian University of Technology, as a prestigious institution of higher education in Poland and Europe, is known for its excellent quality of teaching, rich research resources and open international vision. We are convinced that thanks to the close cooperation between the two universities, we will be able to provide students not only with better educational resources, but also to promote cultural exchange and understanding between our countries”.
Some of the more than a hundred people who came to study in Poland this autumn have already visited some Polish cities. One of the students - Niu Mingyu - stressed that she met with kindness everywhere.
“We have a saying in China that the past is an introduction, and what you have experienced is like a page in a book that has been turned over. For us, 3 years of study in Poland is a new chapter, I am sure that it will be great” – added the student.
The inauguration opened the third joint academic year. After its completion, the first graduates from China will complete the cycle of education in Poland and obtain diplomas from both Universities.
