The success of the High Flyers Science Club during the competition in the USA
The Unmanned Flying Objects Interdepartmental Science Club “High Flyers” of the Silesian University of Technology can boast another success on the world stage. Among other the prestigious awards, the SUT team took the second place in the international competition “Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2025”, which took place at St. Mary's County Regional Airport (2W6) in Maryland, USA
Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) is an annual competition organized since 2002, bringing together student teams from all over the world. Their task is to design, build and test unmanned aerial systems (UAS). During the competition, autonomous flight along a designated route; avoidance of obstacles in the airspace; detection, classification and location of objects based on data from on-board sensors or precise dropping of cargo to a specific place are evaluated.
- The achievement of our team in such a demanding competition is a huge distinction and proof of the high level of Polish engineering thought, which we proudly presented on the international arena - we can read on the High Flyers’ website.
It is worth noting that participation in the competition was one of the tasks of the project entitled “Development of unmanned technologies increasing the level of autonomy of transport”, financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and implemented as part of the non-competitive project entitled “Supporting students in improving their competences and skills”.
Congratulations to the team of The Unmanned Flying Objects Interdepartmental Science Club High Flyers!
