The Silesian University of Technology has signed an agreement with the Huta Pokój Profile
On 10 February 2022, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology signed an agreement on cooperation with Huta Pokój Profile. The purpose of this agreement is to use the experience and scientific achievements of our technical university and combine it with the potential and position of the steelworks in further activities for the benefit of both parties and the development of the region.
On behalf of Huta Pokój Profile, the agreement was signed by the President of the Management Board, Mr Zbigniew Przebindowski. The cooperation will mainly refer to research and development works, employment of the graduates, exchanging experience, improving educational programmes and mutual promotion of achievements.
Students of the Silesian University of Technology will be able to do their diploma apprenticeships or internships in Huta Pokój Profile, while the Silesian University of Technology will organise training courses and specialist training aimed at professional development of Huta's employees.
- Every possibility of cooperation with companies is a great benefit for the University. As a technical university, such cooperation is essential to build and maintain competencies among employees, as well as to train new staff. Cooperation with Huta Pokój Profile, a company belonging to Węglokoks group, is a long-standing tradition of joint research works and numerous projects in the field of Industry 4.0. It is worth emphasising that the Silesian Competence Centre of Industry 4.0, which was established at the Silesian University of Technology, also implemented projects together with Huta Pokój Profile - says Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk.
- At the moment, the entire steel sector is undergoing deep restructuring. The knowledge, competencies of employees and involvement of students and doctoral students of the Silesian University of Technology can be beneficial to both parties," adds the Rector.
Huta Pokój Profile regularly cooperates with the University in terms of attracting candidates from the Silesian University of Technology. For this purpose, they use the internet database of offers from the Student Career Office. Huta has also joined an internship project in which, thanks to financing from the European Social Fund, high-most quality internships closely related to the student's field of study are organised.
- We are happy to have this opportunity to cooperate with the University. Such scientific support is much needed. At the moment the Branch Institutes do not exist anymore as they used to many years ago. Most steelwork plants operate independently. They do not have such scientific support anymore. They also face problems with human resources, as not many students choose metallurgy as their field of study. Therefore, I hope that due to cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology we will gain qualified specialists," said Zbigniew Przebindowski, President of the Management Board of Huta Pokój Profile.
Huta Pokój Profile actively participates in job fairs organised at our University, including the Employer and Entrepreneurship Fair. The company has also participated in three projects implemented by the Silesian Competence Centre of Industry 4.0.
