The Silesian University of Technology has become the leader of the “Perspektywy” Education Foundation ranking in the Silesian Voivodeship
The Silesian University of Technology has become the leader in the Perspektywy ranking among higher education institutions located in the Silesian Voivodeship. It strengthened its position in the classification covering all academic universities in Poland. Moreover, selected fields of study, chosen by the students of the Silesian University of Technology were also placed on the ranking podium.
The Silesian University of Technology once again became the highest ranked university in the Silesian Voivodeship. In comparison to the last year, it has also increased its position by two places, taking the 13th position in the country. The ranking of academic schools organised by Perspektywy includes 100 higher education institutions, which are evaluated according to the following criteria: Prestige, Graduates on the labour market, Scientific Potential, Scientific Effectiveness, Innovation and Internationalisation.
The strong position of the Silesian University of Technology results mainly from the indicators related to prestige measured by the number of indications of a given university in the survey among the academic staff, scientific potential, the number and quality of scientific publications, as well as an increase in internationalisation - both the number of foreign students and staff as well as scientific publications prepared in co-authorship with representatives of foreign scientific centres have increased.
- Strengthening the position in national and international rankings is one of the effects of the implementation of the Development Strategy of the Silesian University of Technology and the prestigious programme "Excellence Initiative - Research University". Constant and multidimensional cooperation with the social and economic environment, innovative scientific research, dual degree studies conducted together with the industry, implementation doctorates, international activity are the factors that enable the Silesian University of Technology to create a teaching offer and implement modern education, consistent with the needs of industry and economy. The University offers young people, who are developing their professional careers, both a modern approach to education and a carefully planned offer of various fields of study which are supposed to constitute the basis for this development. High positions in renowned rankings are nowadays one of the most important factors that are taken into account when choosing the studies - says the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk PhD, DSc.
The Perspektywy ranking also includes the fields of study. Places on the podium, on a national scale, in terms of technical fields of study are taken by the architecture and mining and geology (2nd place), while the 3rd place on the podium was taken by civil engineering, power engineering and environmental engineering. The criterion for the evaluation of the fields of study includes the scientific and didactic potential, as well as academic potential. High, the fourth place was also taken by such faculties as electrical engineering, mechanics and machine design, biomedical engineering, transport and management and production engineering.
