The Silesian University of Technology and TU Bergakademie Freiberg are developing their cooperation within the Double Degree Diploma program
The Silesian University of Technology and TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) in Germany have signed an agreement to implement a joint Double Degree Diploma programme. The agreement covers the Cognitive Technologies studies conducted at the Faculty of Organization and Management of the Silesian University of Technology and the MBA International Business and Resources in Emerging Markets (IBRE) program conducted by the Faculty of Business and Economics of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The agreement was signed by the Rectors of the University: Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk and Prof. Dr Jutta Emes. The agreement is also signed by the Deans of the cooperating Faculties, Dr Hab. Aleksandra Kuzior, Prof. SUT and Prof. Dr Michael Höck.
Both universities are members of the EURECA-PRO European University Alliance, and the Double Degree programme has been formally recognised as a programme implemented within this alliance. The signing of the agreement is another step in the internationalisation of education at the Silesian University of Technology and opens up opportunities for students to gain academic, professional, and intercultural experience both in Poland and Germany.
Thanks to this collaboration, students will be able to pursue an education in two different academic environments and, upon completion of the program, receive two master's degrees – one from each university.
The program covers four semesters of studies and 120 ECTS credits, of which 60 ECTS are completed at the Silesian University of Technology and another 60 ECTS at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Education will be conducted in English. Students will be able to begin their studies at one of the universities and then continue them at a partner university, in accordance with an individual study program and the principles of mutual recognition of achieved learning outcomes. An important element of the program is also the joint supervision of the master's thesis.
The cooperation combines the competences of both universities in complementary areas. At the Silesian University of Technology, students develop knowledge in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive analytics, human-computer interaction, management, and cognitive science, while at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the program focuses among others, on international business, resource economics, econometrics, decision support systems, and innovation management.
