The Silesian University of Technology and the Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials join forces!
On April 13th , 2023, an agreement on research and development cooperation was signed by prof. dr hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk - rector of the Silesian University of Technology and dr hab. Eng. Paweł Pichniarczyk - director of Łukasiewicz Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials (ICiMB). Common experience and knowledge in the field of technical sciences will allow us to undertake innovative research topics, as a result of which new and future-proof technological solutions for the Polish economy will be developed.
- The practice and experience of the employees of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials and access to laboratories and research infrastructure are extremely valuable for many of our faculties, not only for the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which has been the main partner of the Institute so far. The signed contract is an opportunity for Łukasiewicz - ICiMB to cooperate also with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Architecture or Biomedical Engineering - said the rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk.
The cooperation will be based on initiating and conducting research and development, as well as commercialization of the results of these works in the field of materials engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering and biomedical engineering.
– The Silesian University of Technology is our partner in the implementation of joint projects, scientific-research and implementation cooperation. We recruit our employees among the graduates of the University, we also offer practical placements and student internships as well as scientific internships. Together with the University, we would like to create joint consortia for projects to obtain funds from European funds, from Horizon Europe - said dr hab. Eng. Paweł Pichniarczyk – director of the Institute.
In addition, the aim of the cooperation is education - it is planned to educate students and doctoral students, including implementation, as well as organize scientific apprenticeships and student internships.
