The Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE 2022 – we know the details!
It will be the 6th edition of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE. The event will take place in the International Congress Centre in Katowice from 3 to 5 December 2022. The Silesian University of Technology is one of the organizers.
Like every year, the festival programme will include hundreds of various activities popularising science and art. As assured by the General Director of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, Rector of the University of Silesia Professor Ryszard Koziołek, this edition will also bring innovations.
(…) Among other things, there will be an EXPO of Science Festivals in Europe. We will invite befriended festivals to show us how they prepare scientific experiments and experiences. In a competition for the best science stands, we will choose the top presentations and the best science presenters during this festival. The second innovation will be the Carbon Zone. It is an incredibly urgent issue not only for the region we represent, i.e. Silesia but for the whole world, which is undergoing energy transformation on the one hand and is facing new challenges caused by the war in Ukraine on the other. The Coal Zone will address environmental, energy and political issues, said Professor Ryszard Koziołek.
The Silesian University of Technology is also involved in the organisation of the festival and will prepare many attractions. - I would like to invite you to our stands and show that we are not only a technical university. Of course, there will be flying drones, hydrogen trains or electric cars, but above all, there will be the beauty and colours of science. We will show the timbre, check if you can see the sound, and look under the microscope to see different microorganisms. We will also bake SUT's cakes with the visitors, in short, there will be a lot going on - said the director of the Science Popularization Centre of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Aleksandra Ziembińska-Buczyńska.
This year's SSF KATOWICE will feature lectures, workshops, scientific demonstrations, exhibitions, concerts, meetings with special guests and other events. The festival space will be divided into six zones devoted to nature, technology, the humanities and social sciences, science, medicine and health and the arts, plus special zones.
