Since the very beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Silesian University of Technology has been involved in helping refugees. Today, the refurbished "Rzepicha" dormitory has been officially opened. Around 200 refugees will find their temporary homes there. The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk, Deputy Mayor of Gliwice Aleksandra Wysocka and Małgorzata Węglarska from the Caritas Organisation at the Gliwice Diocese.

- The Silesian University of Technology has been providing support to refugees practically since the first days of the conflict. We use our infrastructure in terms of accommodation possibilities, both in dormitories and in the assistants' house, on all campuses of the Silesian University of Technology. Since there is a much higher demand, we have decided to bring back this dormitory, which was initially out of use, after refreshing it and replacing the furniture - said the rector.
