“The Road to Career 5.0” information meetings for candidates for Master’s studies
Why it is worth studying at the second cycle studies, what the University offers in this area and what the recruitment process looks like – all this could be learned by students during the event “The Road to Career 5.0” – information meetings for candidates for Master’s studies.
At the Silesian University of Technology, meetings were held for candidates for second-cycle studies. It was an opportunity to find out what fields of study our University offers, why it is worth continuing studies at the second cycle, what are the development opportunities and what recruitment looks like. The meetings took place at the campuses in Gliwice, Katowice, and Zabrze.
These are the first meeting this type at the Silesian University of Technology. Their aim was to encourage students to continue their studies for the Master’s degree.
- Like all universities in Poland or Europe, we observe a decreasing number of students who want to continue studying at the second cycle studies That is why we try to convince them that it is worth getting a master’s degree. It is not only additional competences, but also a greater chance on the job market or future promotion. Master’s studies are only three semesters, and the benefits are huge – said the Vice-Rector for Student and Education, Prof. Anna Chrobok.
Information meetings “The Road to Career 5.0” were held on-site and in online formula.
- The meetings were very popular. Students asked how many and what fields of study are offered, what recruitment looks like, but what they were most interested in was the question of whether they could reconcile work with studies – said Dr. Hab. Eng. Jarosław Brodny, Prof. SUT of the College of Studies at the Silesian University of Technology.
This is why the University offers a flexible education system.
- Our offer is very attractive, because we have over 40 courses at the second degree: full-time, part-time, dual-day, practical, English, or interfaculty, plus there are also specializations at each of these majors. Therefore, we hope that students will consider positively the possibility of continuing education. This is crucial for their development and career. Without a master’s degree in engineering, they will simply be contractors, not executive and promotion creators - adds Prof. Brodny
- I think that organizing such information meetings is a very good idea - says Miłosz Lewandowski, a student of automation and industrial robotics at the Silesian University of Technology. - We can find out if we can continue to follow the same path of education as before, or if we can choose something different and complement our skills - the student emphasizes.
The recruitment rules and deadlines were introduced to the candidates by the Director of the Study Service Centre, M.Sc. Grażyna Maszniew. Students also filled out a short questionnaire in which they could evaluate their first-cycle studies.
