The rise of the Silesian University of Technology in the latest edition of THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025
Times Higher Education has announced the results of the prestigious World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The Silesian University of Technology has been ranked in four subject areas where it reports data: Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Business and Economics, and Engineering, achieving some of the best results among technical universities in Poland.
THE World University Rankings by Subject (WUR) are prepared by the British magazine Times Higher Education. In the current edition, universities were assessed in 11 subjects: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Clinical and Health, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Psychology and Social Sciences.
In the "Engineering" category, the Silesian University of Technology ranked between 801-1000, along with Warsaw University of Technology, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and Opole University of Technology. This category included a total of 1,488 universities from around the world, including 18 from Poland. The highest-ranked technical universities in Poland in this area were Gdańsk University of Technology and AGH University of Science and Technology.
In the "Computer Science" area, the Silesian University of Technology maintained its position in the 601-800, alongside institutions such as AGH and Warsaw University of Technology. The highest-ranking institution in Poland was the University of Warsaw, placed in the 176-200 band.
A significant achievement was noted in the "Business and Economics" category, where the Silesian University of Technology advanced from the 601-800 to the 501-600 range. Along with Jagiellonian University, the SUT achieved the highest position in this category among Polish institutions.
A notable improvement was also recorded in the "Physical Sciences" area, where the Silesian University of Technology ranked between the 601-800, the highest position among all technical universities in Poland in this category. The leading position in Poland in this area was achieved by the University of Warsaw. Full details of the rankings are available on the Times Higher Education website.
