The projects of scientists from the Silesian University of Technology awarded
Project managers from the Silesian University of Technology can once again boast of successes - both in the field of basic and application research.
Within the framework of the strategic program GOSPOSTRATEG XII, Dr Hab. Eng. Łukasz Bartela, Prof. SUT, from the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering has become the leader of the project: “Plan and pilot activities supporting the development of competences and personnel for the nuclear sector in Poland,” co-financed by the NCBR.
The value of the project is as much as PLN 6 978 905,00 and the received funding amounts to PLN 6 863 705,00.
The project will be implemented by the Consortium consisting of:
- Silesian University of Technology – project leader,
and partners:
- Ministry of Industry – substantive leader,
- National Centre for Nuclear Research,
- University of Economics in Katowice.
4NEW responds to one of the key challenges of the Polish nuclear energy program, which is the systematic preparation and securing of personnel for the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in Poland. As indicated in the proposal, the lack of a comprehensive, coordinated policy for developing competences can become an important barrier to the construction of the nuclear sector.
The aim of the project is to develop a coherent, knowledge-based model for the development of competences and personnel in the nuclear sector, taking into account the three pillars: Secondary education, higher education, and training system for companies.
The main objective of the Program of Scientific Research and Development Works “Social and Economic Development of Poland in the conditions of Globalizing Markets” – GOSPOSTRATEG, is to increase by 2028 of the results of socio-economic research in shaping national and regional development policies. The 12th competition under the program is aimed at selecting the contractors of the so-called open project, which are part of the entire thematic scope of the GOSPOSTRATEG strategic program, which has been included in four thematic areas.
The SONATA BIS 15 competition organized by the NCN ( National Science Centre) has also turned out to be successful for the Silesian University of Technology - it is an important program for the structure of Polish science, allowing for the creation of its own, independent research group and the implementation of ambitious projects in the field of basic research, lasting from 3 to 5 years In this edition, the grant of PLN 3 604 400 was awarded to the TRIDENT project “Generation, research and application of TRIons in chiral-DEfined carbon nanostructures” under the leadership of Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Dawid Janas from the Faculty of Chemistry.
The project proposes solutions to current scientific problems in the field of photonics, which is one of the most promising areas of research, partly due to the unique properties of nanomaterials intensively exploited in this field. In the near future, light-based technologies are expected to drive the development of numerous technologies of strategic importance for society and industry. Unfortunately, the interaction of materials with light is still unclear, which hinders progress in this important area.
The entire Project Management Centre team congratulates on the success, which is the culmination of our work on grant applications together with scientists!
Implementation of these ambitious projects is ahead of us.
