A team of scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology was awarded in the nationwide competition “EUREKA! DGP – We discover Polish inventions,” organized by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. The jury of the competition appreciated the invention entitled “Thin-film solar cell and the way it is made,” developed by Dr Eng. Magdalena Szindler, Dr Eng. Marek Szindler and Dr Hab. Eng. Krzysztof Lukaszkowicz, Prof. SUT.
The Final Gala of the competition took place on June 29th in Warsaw. The award was granted for the innovation of the developed solution and its implementation potential.
The “EUREKA! DGP – We discover Polish Inventions” competition promotes the most valuable achievements of Polish scientists and inventors who have a chance to find practical application in the economy and contribute to the development of modern technologies.
The awarded invention concerns a thin-layer solar cell and an innovative method of its production. The developed solution is the result of research conducted at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology and fits into the development of modern energy technologies and sustainable energy sources.
This is another prestigious award for the research team. In June this year, the same invention won the Gold Medal and the highest distinction – GRAND Prix INTARG® 2026 – during the International Trade Fair for Inventions and Innovation INTARG®. The received awards confirm the high level of research and the significant application potential of the developed solution.
