Until November 30th, 2024, you can apply to take part in the competition organized by the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis for the best bachelor’s, engineering, and master’s theses. There are financial prizes to be won - PLN 2000 for bachelor's / engineering works and PLN 3500 for master's theses.

Bachelor, engineering and master’s theses, defended after the establishment of the metropolitan union in the Silesian Voivodeship, i.e. from 1 July 2017 may be submitted. The participants of the competition may be graduates of universities from all over Poland. The authors of the awarded works will receive financial prizes in the amount of PLN 2000 to PLN 3500 and occasional diplomas.

The thematic scope of the work should concern metropolitan issues - resulting from statutory tasks carried out by the GZM (shaping spatial order, socio-economic development; integration and development of public transport and metropolitan passenger transport; promotion; cooperation in determining the course of national and provincial roads in the metropolitan area) and from the development strategy of the GZM (priorities: adaptation to climate change and resilience, mobility and accessibility, space and social cohesion, metropolitan and innovation, cooperation and openness).

The competition for the best diploma theses is part of a wider project entitled: The Metropolis of Science, which is a package of financial and organizational tools supporting universities in raising their educational offer, and thus strengthening the role of GZM as an academic and research and development centre.
