The game created at the Silesian University of Technology awarded!
The HOUSING ESTSTE GAME, created at the Faculty of Architecture, was appreciated at the International Design Educates Awards competition. The game won first place in the “Project of the year 2024” category.
The team that developed the game - the Urban Model Student Science Club operating at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology - has reasons to celebrate. The Housing Estate Game, created by students under the supervision of Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Tomasz Bradecki, Prof. SUT was appreciated by a prestigious group of experts from all over the world.
- This is a very great distinction for us, for which we would like to thank you on behalf of the Urbanmodel team. The jury consists of world-famous architects (including Toyo Ito, winner of the Priztker Prize, as well as prof. Rainer Mahlamäki), designers, innovators and educators. The competition receives several hundred entries from all over the world every year, said Prof. Bradecki.
The official award ceremony will take place on September 19 at the SolarLux Campus in Melle, Germany.
Design Educates Awards (DEAwards) are awarded in several categories, including architecture, products and other design disciplines that stand out not only for their aesthetics, but also for their impact on society.
The competition is looking for creative, innovative projects (completed or conceptual within the last 5 years) of any scale that, in addition to excellent aesthetics, contain added value - such as educational potential, storytelling elements, stimulating critical thinking, the ability to influence users' emotions or behaviour, and influence on perception or include other similar values.
The awards are presented by the Laka Foundation, a non-profit organization and global network focusing on social impact through exceptional design and architecture.
It is worth adding that the game is available in the e-shop of the Silesian University of Technology.
