The Centre for Defence Technologies and Dual-Use TOPAZ is being established
Silesian University of Technology responds to the current needs of the country and the interests of scientists and students by creating the Centre for Defence and Dual-Use Technologies.
Ladies and Gentlemen!
Thank you for completing the survey and for participating in the meeting on the 15th of December on the identification of the potential of the Silesian University of Technology in the field of defence and security, including the so-called “dual use” technologies, which have both civil and military applications.
The survey and the meeting confirmed that our University has established traditions of scientific research and cooperation with industry in this area, and many scientists and students are interested in their further development. Taking into account the above conclusions, as well as the needs of our country and development opportunities related to the national and European budget allocated for defence, the Centre of Defence and Dual-Use Technologies will be established at the Silesian University of Technology on 1 January 2026.

Prof Arkadiusz Mężyk has been appointed the Director of the Centre for the first year of its activity. We wish Prof Mężyk many successes.
The first activities of the Centre can be expected soon. We encourage our researchers and students to get involved.
