The basketball players of AZS Politechnika Śląska fought until the end

The basketball players of AZS Politechnika Śląska lost 48:56 to the AZS University of Silesia team in the match of the fourth round of the 2nd league.

- We started this match without our most effective players, Wiktoria Borzęcka and Zuzanna Niedziółka - says Patryk Niczke, our basketball players' coach.

The visiting team started the match better and won 18:13 in the first quarter. The second quarter could largely determine the final result. In this match, our players were unable to score a point for over five minutes, although they had many opportunities to do so. Our University's basketball players played decisively in defence, carried out numerous counterattacks and tried different action patterns, but unfortunately their effectiveness was poor in the end.

The University of Silesia team went into the break with a twelve-point lead. However, this did not discourage our players, who performed much better in the second half - they played more aggressively and faster, with faith in the final success. The highlight was a fragment of the fourth quarter, in which they caught up with their rivals - with great support from the fans - by a difference of five points.

The character of Patryk Niczke's team could be impressive and when it seemed that we would witness an exciting and equal ending, ineffectiveness made itself felt again and it was the rivals who finally sealed the victory in the last minutes.

- The girls have extraordinary character and this is important at this stage of team building - says Patryk Niczke. - Once again, however, our problem, i.e. effectiveness, has made itself felt. We played good defence because our opponents didn't score many points. However, we scored far too rarely, even from "clean positions", and we were punished.

Now our team has three away games ahead of us. The next one will take place on November 19th with MKS MOS Wrocław.
