The Architecture Festival integrates and entertains
The weather was good and so was the audience. The festival atmosphere could once again be felt at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology, where the "III International Silesian Festival of Architecture, Art and Crafts" took place on June 19th.
The third edition of the International Silesian Festival of Architecture, Art and Crafts is behind us. The aim of the event was to popularize broadly understood art and promote the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology.
- We manage to combine art with a useful approach. The festival integrates the art of architecture, crafts and painting. We go outside because we want to invite people to have fun together, but also to discuss the places we are in - said the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Klaudiusz Fross, prof. SUT

The potential of this event was also noticed by the President of Gliwice, Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka, who visited the festival.
- I am happy with the students' initiatives, I am happy with their creativity, because then we can really see that Gliwice is a student city and that students have a real impact on its functioning - said the president and added that when it comes to designing urban space, students and employees of the Faculty of Architecture can help a lot in the near future.
- Universal design and design for which inclusiveness is important is the change that I would like to introduce in the city, and I hope that together with the representation of this faculty and university we will be able to achieve it - added Kuczyńska-Budka.

It is worth adding that the Festival has a different formula each year. The topic is not obvious, but this is what attracts interested people to stop at the square in front of the Faculty. It should be noted that the festival is organized mainly by students, with some help from the staff of the Faculty of Architecture.
- This year, the strategic partner of the event was the Chess Academy in Gliwice. We showed that chess refers to art. As students, we prepared our board with figures made of clay, - said Hanna Zyskowska, a first-year student of interior design.

- Chess is a sport, but chess is also an art, as evidenced by the various forms of chess pieces made by students. We are impressed by these projects - said Michał Paździora, vice-president of the Silesian Chess Association. – We, chess players, see the beauty of the game, the art of the game in chess, and that is why we are glad that we could come here. We also show that chess can be played outdoors. It is an attraction that can also be an element of the architecture of the place - added Paździora.

The festival was accompanied by painting exhibitions, concerts and a handicraft show. The organizers announce that the event will become a permanent fixture in the calendar of events of the Faculty of Architecture.
