The activities of the Silesian University of Technology for the space sector have been appreciated!
We are pleased to inform you that the Silesian University of Technology and Silesian Phoenix Student Science Club have been included in the report “Polish Space Sector 2025”, prepared by the Industrial Development Agency. This is important news especially in the context of the efforts of the region and the Silesian University of Technology to locate the European Space Agency branch in the Silesian Voivodeship.
Silesian University of Technology was mentioned in the report as one of the universities undertaking project initiatives, organizing student teams, and developing study specialisations related to space technologies.
Thus, the role of our University in the development of the space sector in Poland was emphasized by developing its own competences, participating in national and European projects, or conducting specialized courses, conferences, and research.
A great success is also the presence of the Silesian Phoenix Student Science Club, operating under the scientific supervision of Dr Andrzej Jałowiecki. The achievements of the Rover Team with experience in ERC competitions were appreciated. The members of the Club design, construct solutions and present them to international competitions.
The authors of the report pointed out that student organizations and academic project teams are one of the most important sources of competence development and innovation in the space sector. What is more, the report notes that in many cases it is the student organizations that initiate the first research and construction activities, which over time turn into startups or human resources for companies and institutions, and the Polish student scene in this area is one of the most active in Europe.
We would like to congratulate the SKN Silesian Phoenix team and wish you further success!
