The Academic Secondary Schools of the Silesian University of Technology inaugurated the new school year
For the fourth time, the Academic Secondary Schools of the Silesian University of Technology in the city of Gliwice and Rybnik officially started the new school year. The University authorities took part in the ceremony.
The Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk, was present at the inauguration ceremony in the city of Rybnik. The students of the city of Gliwice Academic Secondary School were welcomed by the Vice Rector for General Affairs, Professor Bogusław Łazarz.
- I thank the students for entrusting their destinies to our schools. I strongly believe that many of these young people will become members of our academic community in the future. I wish both the students and the teaching staff success, inspiring challenges and good health - said the Rector.
- I hope that in four years you will be able to say to yourselves that it was a good choice, that you have chosen a school that gives you opportunities for development, because the whole potential of the University is within your reach and at your disposal," said the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Professor Bogusław Łazarz, in Gliwice.
There are two classes at the ALO (Academic Secondary School): polytechnic and architectural. - The nature of our governing body, i.e. the Silesian University of Technology, makes science important to us. We focus especially on mathematics and physics. Thanks to the fact that it is a school founded by the university, we have the opportunity to add supplementary subjects that are aimed at a later career in technical sciences - says Małgorzata Borysławska, director of ALO in Gliwice.
The Academic Secondary School of the Silesian University of Technology are very popular. The school is mostly chosen by students who associate their future with technical universities, but not only. This was the case with Karolina from Gliwice.
- I chose the ALO in Gliwice because I want to study architecture at the Silesian University of Technology in the future. Here is the architectural profile and that's why I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to study at this school - says Karolina from the city of Gliwice. Also Łukasz and Michał from the city of Knurów chose ALO due to the possibilities offered by the school. - In the future, I am going to study Chemistry at the Silesian University of Technology - says Łukasz, while his colleague Michał dreams about IT and programming at our University.
Many students of the ALO think about studying at the Silesian University of Technology, which is proved by the fact that 2/3 of this year's Gliwice graduates chose our University.
