The Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology invites all to the Gliwice Choral Meetings
From 13th to 14th of April 2024, the 41st edition of Gliwice Choral Meetings will take place. The festival is co-organized by the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology. The program of the event is extremely interesting, and the repertoire, which will be presented by the invited choirs, will allow you to take a closer look at sacred and secular music.
The 41st Gliwice Choral Meetings will consist of two concerts and workshops. The first of them will take place on April 13th at 19.00 in the church of Christ the King in Gliwice. During the concert, the Academic Choir of the Wrocław University of Technology and the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology will perform together with organist Michał Botor and soloists: Elżbieta Grodzka-Lopuszyńska - soprano, Agata Kobierska - alt, Rafał Majzner - tenor, Remigiusz Nowak - bass. The whole concert will be conducted by Tomasz Giedwiłło, conductor of the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem in D minor KV 626 is one of the most famous pieces of the funeral mass genre. This is the work that the artists of our choir would perform during the first day of the festival in tribute to prof. Czesław Freund, who was a distinguished academic lecturer and conductor of the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
The second day of the festival will have a completely different character. The whole event will take place at the Student Culture Centre “Mrowisko” in Gliwice. It will start at 16.00 with vocal and music workshops with Kuczeryki ensemble. These workshops will be dedicated to the inhabitants of Gliwice and the surrounding area. You can register for the workshop by sending an e-mail to : achpolsl.gliwice@gmail.com.
During the evening concert at 18.00 p.m., two groups will perform: The Vocal Ensemble Vox Amici and the Traditional Singing Ensemble Kuczeryki. The first of them is an intimate singing group composed of educated singers and conductors from various towns of Upper Silesia. What brought them together was music and a passion for choral singing. The second is a group of friends inspired by traditional singing, Slavic folklore, and the beauty of the folk repertoire. The repertoire performed by Kuczeryki allows you to embark on a musical journey following one-voice Polish songs, but also to hear the East Slavic polyvoice and unusual Balkan rhythms.
Tickets to the concert are available at the ticket office of the Student Culture Centre “Mrowisko” or by writing to achpolsl.gliwice@gmail.com.
