The 7th Polish Urban Planning Congress began
On the 23rd of September in the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology, the 7th Polish Urban Planning Congress began under the slogan “Urban planning at the crossroads”. It will last until the 25th of September.
The Rector of the Silesian University of Technology took the honorary patronage of this Congress. The official opening of the event was attended by, among others, Vice-Rector for General Affairs of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Bożena Skołud, Mayor of Gliwice Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka and President of the Society of Polish Urban Planners Dr Arch. Tomasz Majda.
- This is a very important event, with both a scientific and social dimension. The latter is particularly close to each of us because we meet with the effects of urban planning on a daily basis. We visit cities and observe how they change as places to work, play and life in general. I wish you fruitful conversations and many successes, because I am convinced that thanks to such meetings our cities will become an increasingly better place to live – emphasized Vice-Rector Bożena Skołud.
The Polish Urban Planning Congress is one of the most important national meetings devoted to city planning. The event brought together urban planners, architects, investors and representatives of the construction and real estate industry, local governments, administration, and science. The participants will talk for three days about how cities should respond to climate change, new housing needs, economic and technological changes and increasing pressure on well-planned space.
