The 26th edition of the “POLITYKA” Science Awards is launched
Until the 14th of June 2026, the “POLITYKA” Weekly Foundation accepts applications by young scientists for the 26th edition of the POLITYKA Science Awards. The list of 15 finalists will be published in the POLITYKA weekly on the 16th of September this year, and on the 18th of October, the winners will be announced at the official POLITYKA Science Awards Gala. We invite you to submit applications from the Silesian University of Technology.
The “POLITYKA” Weekly Foundation has been running a scholarship program for young scientists since 2001, “Stay with us!” – Since 2011 under the name of the “POLITYKA” Science Awards. Through the campaign conducted in the pages of “POLITYKA,” a valuable model of career and scientific achievements of young people of science in Poland is promoted.
The winners are selected in two stages by two Chapters. The Chapter I (Professorial) consists of outstanding professors, experts in particular disciplines and fields of science. They carry out a careful selection of applications and submit candidates to the finals.
The finalists selected by the Chapter at the first stage of the competition are evaluated by the Chapter of the second stage (Civic), which includes people known for their public activity and broad views on social reality. The Chapter of the second stage identifies five laureates whose research and works it considers particularly promising not only in the sense of their practical usefulness, but also their importance for the progress of civilization and intellectual life.
Thanks to the work of both Chapters, 15 finalists are selected from hundreds of applications each year in five fields of science: humanities, socio-economic sciences, exact sciences, life sciences, and technical and information sciences. In 2026, the five best finalists will receive Science Awards – scholarships of PLN 15 thousand and an interview in the POLITYKA weekly. The remaining ten finalists will receive the final prizes of PLN 5,000
For 25 years of the campaign, thanks to the help of financial partners and readers of “POLITYKA”, who paid 1.5% of tax to the scholarship program, the POLITYKA Weekly Foundation supported 407 young scientists with almost PLN 7 million 300 thousand
In a special way, we encourage scientists of the Silesian University of Technology to submit their applications and share their professional successes.
