The 1st International Conference on the Priority Research Areas of the Silesian University of Technology.
The Silesian University of Technology focuses its development in 6 Priority Research Areas, implemented by the University's scientists and recognized by the national and international scientific and socio-economic environment. The event summarizing the results of research conducted by university employees and presenting plans is the conference "Priority Research Areas of the Silesian University of Technology - achievements and challenges", which will be held on April 15 and 16, 2021 online on the Zoom platform.
Carrying out activities under the 6 Priority Research Areas is one of the tasks of the Silesian University of Technology as a research university that constantly develops its scientific potential and quality of education. It is also an opportunity to respond to the real needs of the economy and society, and to take up the challenges of modern technology in cooperation with domestic and foreign partners from the socio-economic environment.
The addressees of the conference are representatives of the academic world as well as the socio-economic environment: local governments, representatives of business and industry as well as non-governmental organizations. The invited speakers, guests and panellists will include scientists from the Silesian University of Technology, industry authorities, as well as outstanding specialists and researchers from foreign universities.
The 1st International Conference "Priority Areas of the Silesian University of Technology - achievements and challenges" is devoted to the presentation of the potential of the Silesian University of Technology and the implementation of work within POB. The programme includes both a summary of the University's activities to date within POB, as well as a presentation of plans for further development.
The first day of the event will be devoted to the scientific research of the Silesian University of Technology for the society and economy within individual Priority Research Areas:
- POB1: Computational oncology and personalized medicine;
- POB2: Artificial intelligence and data processing;
- POB3: Materials of the future;
- POB4: Smart cities and future mobility;
- POB5: Process automation and Industry 4.0;
- POB6: Climate and environmental protection, modern energy.
On the second day of the conference, topics related to the current challenges of science will be presented. Participants will be able to take part in the following panel discussions:
- „Personalized medicine today and tomorrow”,
- „Artificial Intelligence in the Wild: The Big Data Problems or Big Problems with Data?",
- „Smart materials - challenges and opportunities”,
- „Challenges facing the cities of the future”,
- „Industry 4.0 – Society 5.0”,
- „Challenges for climate protection, environment and modern energy”.
Due to the ongoing epidemic restrictions, the event will be held remotely via the Zoom platform. To confirm your participation, registration is required, which will start on April 6th and end on April 14th.
