- The powerlifting championship consists of 3 fights. These include barbell squats, bench press and deadlift. The winner is the person who has the highest "total", i.e. the combination of the best score from each individual exercise. Moreover, in the competition you can get "small medals" for every individual fight," explains Agata Sitko.

Agata Sitko is a member of the UKS Pover Kuźnik club from Chorzów. She has been interested in strength sports for a long time.

- Ever since I was a child I liked to show that I was stronger, lift things, arm wrestle with my friends. In junior secondary school I started to train at home with dumbbells and on a  pull-up-bar. When I came across powerlifting on the internet, I decided that I would like to start training. I have been training more seriously since 2019, 6 times a week from two to four hours. (...) I had my first international competition in August 2021," says our champion.

Our student is very much supported by her closest family. - My parents watch all the competitions with my participation and when I come back from a competition the welcome back team is already waiting for me with cakes and other treats," smiles Agata.

For Agata, sport is not only a passion, but also an opportunity to meet interesting people and see the world. She also has many plans for the future. - Right now I am preparing for the World Championships in Senior Classical Triathlon in Sun City, South Africa and the World Games in Birmingham, USA," says Agata. She’s  studding hard for the upcoming exam session ahead.

We keep our fingers crossed and congratulate Agata on her success!
