Summer School for Doctoral Students
The holiday time is a great opportunity for workshop meetings, which in a relaxed atmosphere create a chance to improve competence in broadly understood didactics. The Centre for Modern Education on July 8-10, runs the Summer School for PhD students, and on Tuesday, July the 8th, 2025, the first training on “The Idea of Cleaner Production” took place.
This time, the participants had the opportunity to explore the subject of Sustainable Development and Cleaner Production – an approach aimed at minimizing the negative impact of industrial processes on the environment while increasing economic efficiency.
The training entitled “The Idea of Cleaner Production – Opportunities and Limitations” was conducted by Dr Hab. Eng. Katarzyna Tobór-Osadnik, Prof. SUT. She is an expert in environmental management and sustainable development.
During the meeting participants:
- got acquainted with the key assumptions of the concept of clean production and its significance in the context of industrial transformation,
- analysed practical examples of implementation of pro-environmental strategies in enterprises,
- discussed the possibilities and barriers in the implementation of solutions consistent with the idea of sustainable development,
- were given guidance on how to make engineering and research decisions taking into account environmental and social aspects.
The training took the form of an interactive workshop, and its aim was to strengthen the awareness of young scientists about environmental responsibility and to shape a proactive attitude toward climate and economic challenges.
Participation in the event was a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and reflect on the role of science and innovation in building a future based on the principles of Sustainable Development.
The training is carried out as part of the project “Silesian University of Technology as a university supporting staff on the way to excellence” implemented within the framework of Measure 01.05 Skills in Higher Education in Priority 1 of the European Funds for Social Development Program 2021-2027, based on the agreement no. FERS.01.05-IP.08-0159/23-00 under the supervision of the National Centre for Research and Development as an Intermediate Body.
