Success of the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology
Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology has won the Grand Prix award for the best choir during 4th Leonardo Da Vinci International Choral Festival. The event was held in Florence.
The success of the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology under the direction of Tomasz Giedwiłło. During the 4th Leonardo da Vinci International Choral Festival, our artists were honored by the international jury with the Grand Prix award for the best choir. During the festival, our artists performed "Prayer to the Mother of God" by Józef Świder and "Pater noster" by Romuald Twardowski, dedicated to the previous conductor of the ensemble - Czesław Freund.
The Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology competed against choirs from Croatia, Spain and the United States. In addition to the Grand Prix award, representatives of the Silesian University of Technology won gold diplomas, gold medals and first places in the mixed choir and sacred music categories.
The ensemble also received a special award for the best performance of a work by a contemporary composer (Z. Lukáš, "Dies irae"), while the honorable mention for best conductor went to Tomasz Giedwiłło.
