Success of Silesian University of Technology students in the Stanford University program
Amelia Wiśniowska and Kacper Wieczorek, students of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, achieved great success in the prestigious AEC Global Teamwork project, organized annually by Stanford University.
The AEC (Architecture-Engineering-Construction) Global Teamwork program is a Stanford University initiative aimed at students from leading technical universities around the world. Young engineers work together to create innovative and sustainable projects. This is a unique learning experience that emphasizes interdisciplinary, globally distributed, project-based teamwork. The program brings together students, faculty, and industry practitioners from five disciplines – architecture, structural engineering, MEP systems engineering, construction management (CM), and life cycle financial management (LCFM).
The aim of the program is not only to develop innovative design solutions, but also to develop interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration skills.
This year, two environmental engineering students at the Silesian University of Technology, Amelia Wiśniowska and Kacper Wieczorek, were given the opportunity to participate in the 33rd AEC Global Teamwork program, which ran from January to May 2026. They were among a unique group of 22 students from Stanford and 10 partner universities from around the world, representing 16 nationalities.
The students were divided into three global project teams, each consisting of representatives from five disciplines. They designed university buildings taking into account local challenges such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, extreme weather events, tight construction sites, local regulations and working conditions.
Amelia Wiśniowska was an MEP building systems engineer in the international student team Island 2026. Her Island 2026 team won all three competitions this year:
· 20th Sustainability Challenge: HOLISTIC
· 17th IPD Challenge: I2Workflows – Intelligent Integrated Workflows
· 8th Technology Challenge: The Future of Sustainable Construction Site
Below is a presentation of her project.
Kacper Wieczorek, in turn, was an MEP building systems engineer in the international student team River 2026. We also encourage you to get accustomed with his presentation.
It is worth noting that the participation of Silesian University of Technology students in the AEC Global Teamwork program was assessed as outstanding.
We congratulate the students on their success, and you will be able to read more about this in the next issue of the Bulletin of the Silesian University of Technology.
