From July 21st to 23rd, 2025, the 9th Hebei Provincial Chemical Design Competition was held at Shijiazhuang College. The event was hosted by the Hebei Provincial Department of Education and organized by Shijiazhuang University. It brought together top teams from 28 universities, including Yanshan University, Hebei University of Technology, and Hebei University, showcasing the highest standards of chemical engineering education in the province.
Representing the Yanshan University European Institute, the Yanda DMSOlab66 team—comprising Weizhi Shang, Xinyue Xu, Youliang Wang, Yuehan Zhang, and Tianze Yang—demonstrated outstanding professional competence, innovative thinking, and seamless teamwork. These students, from both the Silesian University of Technology and Yanshan University, earned first prize in the provincial competition.
The 2025 National College Student Chemical Design Competition is guided by the principles of “innovation-driven development and green growth”. It encourages participants to apply their knowledge and skills to explore advanced technologies in the cleaner production of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Beyond technical expertise, the competition emphasizes engineering ethics, responsibility, professionalism, and academic rigor.
In this competition, the students showcased exceptional creativity, strong practical engineering design skills, and excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration. These achievements were made possible thanks to the dedicated guidance and support of faculty from both institutions. With the continued mentorship of such outstanding educators, more students are expected to thrive and make significant contributions in their respective fields in the years ahead.
