Representatives of the Student Data Science Club of the Silesian University of Technology won in the Quantum AI category in the largest hackathon in Europe – HackYeah 2024.
HackYeah 2024, the largest stationary hackathon in Europe, took place in Tauron Arena in Krakow. More than 2600 people took part in it. The Student Science Club of Data Science was represented by five people: Joanna Wiekiera, Martyna Żur, Katarzyna Rakoczy, Weronika Wołowczyk and Krzysztof Gumiński.
Hackathon is a 24-hour programming contest. During this edition, many different categories were prepared – from artificial intelligence, through gamedev, to cybersecurity – says Joanna Wiekera. “We took part in the Quantum AI category from IBM. The competition consisted in developing educational materials for people who wanted to learn more about artificial intelligence algorithms operating on quantum computers. We had to implement several such models for this purpose, which was an incredibly interesting experience. We learned a lot about quantum computers, their advantages, and possibilities. We decided to implement a website with a guide, a comparison of AI and QAI algorithms and a "playground" for people who want to try out the algorithms we offer.
