Students of the Silesian University of Technology take part in tests of a new AT-6 twin-engine type aircraft
Students and PhD students from the “Aerospace Engineering” Student Science Club from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology joined the research work related to the tests of a new AT-6 two-engine aircraft.
The creation of a new, technologically advanced twin-engine aircraft is a rare event even on a global scale, and even more so within one country. For several years, the Polish company “AT Silesia” has been developing a project of a new twin-engine aircraft of the AT-6 type, which is distinguished by a high degree of automation, innovative aerodynamic solutions, economy of operation and ergonomic design. The machine is also equipped with an emergency landing system.
The company has been conducting ground tests of the aircraft for a long time, and recently also started flight tests. At the same time, preparations for series production are under way at the airport in Gliwice – in the newly built facility equipped with modern machinery park.
The research work related to the project was also attended by students and PhD students of the “Aerospace Engineering” Student Science Club from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. They have developed two modules for in-depth analysis of the parameters of this aircraft. These solutions have already enabled the collection of valuable data on the efficiency of individual aircraft components, which supports further improvement of its performance.
