On the 7th - 8th of May 2026, the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology organized an international student conference Student Scientific & Professional Activities - SSPA 2026. The event was attended by students of the Silesian University of Technology, the AGH University of Science and Technology, the VSB Technical University in Ostrava and the Technical University of Košice. We are pleased to inform that students of the Silesian University of Technology were distinguished in all thematic sessions.

The SSPA conference, organized continuously since 2019, is today one of the most important projects supporting cooperation between these universities. In the first editions, the competition was implemented as part of the European Operational Program Research, Development and Education. After its completion, it is continued as a joint venture of friendly Universities, which emphasizes the durability and value of this international initiative.

The SSPA conference included three main thematic sessions:

· Earth Sciences – a session devoted to issues related to geology, geodesy, cartography, geological engineering and geotourism,

· Process Control and Logistics – session on automation, computerization and management of processes related to the acquisition and processing of raw materials, as well as industrial and commercial logistics,

· Mineral Resources, Ecology and Environment – session covering the topics of environmental protection, raw materials technologies, geotechnics, rescue, mining and tunnel technologies and the use of alternative energy sources.

The Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation was represented by students: Radosław Brzozowski, Michał Feodorów, Wiktor Korpak, Dawid Małachowski, Martyna Skulska and Oskar Snarski. Scientific supervisors of the presented works were Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Manowska Prof. SUT, Dr Eng. Monika Żogała and M.Sc. Eng. Konrad Kołodziej. The works were evaluated by the Competition Board.
