Students of the Silesian University of Technology awarded in a computer game creation competition
Another success for our students. This time, in the Team Computer Game Creation 2024 competition, the representatives of the Student Science Club of Graphics, Vision and Computer Games were awarded.
In the Team Computer Game Development 2024 competition, the team from the Silesian University of Technology received the TOP3 distinction in the Game Design category and received as many as three sponsor awards.
This prestigious competition is organized by the Lodz University of Technology. Over sixty teams took part in this year's edition.

The Silesian University of Technology was represented by a team called "Place Holders", composed of Maksymilian Kisiel, Mateusz Górecki, Bartłomiej Gordon, Samir Abu Safieh, Wojciech Owczarek and Julia Wróbel. The students belong to Student Science Club “Graphics, Vision and Computer Games.”
The game design created by this team was presented in the Game Design category. Additionally, student Bartłomiej Gordon presented his individual application project for the VR platform in the Show Your Project category.
During the final, which took place over two days, participants presented their works at prepared stands, fighting for the jury's votes and the interest of sponsors and industry experts.
The students entered two games in the competition. The first is the innovative game "Paper Blades" set in a world built with origami, in the atmosphere of medieval Japan, combining two- and three-dimensional elements in an interesting way.
Bartłomiej Gordon's game, in turn, was set in virtual reality. It is called "Pirate Rush VR".

After presentations and tests on the stand, awards were presented. In the Game Design category, the game “Paper Blades” received an honourable mention, which was also noticed by sponsors. As part of the winnings, the students will go to next year's international Digital Dragons fair and the prestigious Game Access fair abroad in Brno.
Additionally, participants received a prize in the form of legal advice from the Gamedev Lawyers Association, which they can use when using the project for commercialization purposes, i.e. releasing it to the market and wanting to sell it.
