Students of the Silesian University of Technology turned out to be the best in the first unihockey tournament in the Silesian Academic Championships. Our representatives won a set of matches and before the second tournament they are the favourites to the final win.
The Unihockey competition was held in the MOSiR hall in Katowice Szopienice. Four universities took part in it.
In the Silesian Academic Championships in this discipline, mixed teams consisting of men and women compete. The Silesian University of Technology team was composed of: Lukasz Pieszko (captain and coach), Krzysztof Siemek, Katarzyna Secemska, Hubert Gajur, Kamil Grabowski, Jagoda Bazarnicka, Bartosz Fojcik, Arek Prokopowicz and Kamil Juranek. The supervisor of the team was Piotr Wysocki.
Our team probably won three games: 10:5 with the University of Silesia, 14:2 with the WSB Academy in Dąbrowa Górnicza and 6:2 with the Medical University of Silesia. Thanks to this, they won in the first edition. In the spring, a second edition will be held, after which the final winner will be determined. Silesian University of Technology defends the title from a year ago when it won both tournaments.
