Students are already participating in the Talent HUB initiative
The first activities within the Talent HUB at the Silesian University of Technology have begun. This is an initiative established by the Business School of the Silesian University of Technology with the support of the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) and selected business partners of the Silesia Automotive and Advanced Manufacturing Cluster. The initiator and coordinator of Talent HUB is prof. Małgorzata Dobrowolska, Director of the Business School and MBA Manager.
The aim of the Talent Hub initiative is primarily to support talented youth, including the diagnosis of students' competences and psychosocial and professional potential.
The program is dedicated to students of all faculties of our University. In essence, Talent Hub is a talent management formula in which companies, by organizing and financing various initiatives, for example competitions for solving a certain task, can support talented young people in various ways, invite them to workshops, internships, involve them in their own activities and ultimately also employ in their companies.
- We strongly believe that thanks to the Talent Hub initiative, it will be possible to support our students, their interests and potential, so as to harmoniously combine the forces of efficient companies, in need of employees, offering good working conditions, with the professional development of students who have infinite, but often unknown decks of possibilities - said Dr. hab. Małgorzata Dobrowolska, prof. SUT.
- Today, we talk more and more often about the issue of talent outsourcing, about the search for talent management methodology in the organization's networks, about the challenges related to the diagnosis of talents within the so-called competencies of the future, hence our attempt to join these issues - added prof. Dobrowolska.
The Talent HUB initiative itself was initiated by graduates of our MBA studies, managers of global corporations and representatives of SMEs, as an opportunity for both parties - potential employers and employees - to get to know each other and establish satisfactory cooperation, and on the other hand - to implement many interesting common challenges. It is to be an intimate initiative for small, up to 5-person groups of students, who take part in initiatives organized by companies, which additionally serves more individualized support for students and their obtaining greater benefits, both material - such as various prizes or gifts, as well as and intangible – such as acquiring specialized skills.
As part of the Talent HUB, students will be able to take advantage of an attractive development offer.
- We invite students who want to develop, broaden their horizons and improve their qualifications at the university and beyond to participate in activities under the Talent HUB initiative. KSEZ, the best Special Economic Zone in Europe and 7 partners representing the most modern enterprises operating in Silesia are involved in the initiative. Students who apply to Talent HUB will be able to participate in internships, practical workshops, study visits, meetings with experts, as well as take advantage of professional advice, coaching or mentoring - explained Łukasz Górecki, president of Silesia Automotive and Advanced Manufacturing Cluster.
The first initiatives in the Talent HUB project are behind us. On June 6, a study visit was held at the Johnson Matthey factory in Gliwice, which is the world market leader in the production
of car catalysts. Students took a Plan Tour around the plant, during which they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the production line, visited individual departments and laboratories of the company, learning about the latest research in the field of precious metal properties. It was a truly ecological lesson showing the potential of modern technology in reducing harmful emissions of harmful substances while caring for the environment and people.
Magdalena Brachmańska, among others, also took advantage of the possibility of visiting the plant. - Meeting with the industry is always interesting, because for every engineer this is the goal he/she strives for. An automated factory, with a high level of precision and modern technology - it arouses curiosity. I am glad that we can see what we learn in practice - said the student of the Silesian University of Technology.
Representatives of companies cooperating with the KSEZ that decided to take part in the TALENT HUB initiative see the potential in these young people.
- We are a very automated and modern plant in a modern industry, and we would like students with their energy to act to visit us in droves, and in the future to work for us. Initiatives such as today's are a great opportunity for them to develop technologically, especially for students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The Silesian University of Technology educates well, and a lot of graduates have already found a job with us - said Waldemar Gołębiewski, director of the Johnson & Matthey plant.
In turn, on June 7, students of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology visited the Drim Robotics company in Czechowice-Dziedzice at the workshop: “How to get along with a cobot?". Drim Robotics is a modern company that installs industrial robots and cobots in enterprises around the world. As part of the meeting, company representatives familiarized students with the company's activities focused on the implementation of systems for automatic control of industrial machines, shared their know-how and talked about the solutions used in the automated production process. An undoubted attraction for the students were practical classes, i.e. the possibility of independently programming a cobot for a dedicated task.
