Student of the Silesian University of Technology among world's top five kickboxers

Dominik Cinal, a student of the Silesian University of Technology, is in the top five best kickboxers in the world. Dominik represented Poland at the World KICKBOXING Championships 2021 in the low kick formula.

The Championships took place in the Italian city Lido di Jesolo. Dominik Cinal, after a heroic and dramatic fight in the low kick formula, defeated the Russian representative and advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Championships.

“Going to the World Championships was my big dream. I managed to reach the quarter-finals, I was classified in fifth place. However, I feel unsatisfied, because I did not miss much to get a medal. That is why I am now very motivated to prepare even better for the next championships" says Dominik.

This is not the first success of our student. He was twice a bronze medallist in the Polish Championships, and in September in the World Cup in KICKBOXING in Budapest he won a gold medal.

Dominik has been in the national team for two years. However, he has been training martial arts for 16 years. “I train in two clubs: Absortio Gym in Rybnik and Paco Team in Mysłowice. I have two coaches: in Rybnik Adam Drygalski and in Mysłowice Witold Kostka” says our student.

Dominik studies at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in the major of mechanical engineering. “I try to reconcile studying with training. In the first year it was easier because of the remote learning, now it is a bit more difficult, because I have to commute to classes, so I leave home at 8 AM and return at 9 PM. I have even 9 trainings a week, but I will keep on trying to do my best, because I have great support from the University. I receive, among others, the Rector's scholarship for sports achievements, I also have additional funds for training or a special diet" says Dominik Cinal.

For Dominik kickboxing is not only a sport passion or a way to spend time actively, but also an opportunity to meet interesting people. “In the world of sport you can meet fantastic people, enthusiasts who can teach you a lot. By going to sport events you can also see a bit of the world" stresses Dominik.

At the moment Dominik is preparing for the Polish Championships and the European Championships, which will take place next year. In the meantime he is planning a few professional fights. You can follow the sports achievements of our student on his FB profile (1) Dominik Cinal | Facebook.
