Special award for students of the Silesian University of Technology in the Student-Inventor competition
Students of the Silesian University of Technology - Nikodem Nokielski and Szymon Rychter conducting research under the supervision of Dr Eng. Magdalena Letun-Łątka, received a distinction in the National Student-Inventor Competition. The Competition Commission awarded their invention entitled “Medicine Dispenser".
The solution developed by our students received a special award from the President of the Polish Association of Pharmaceutical Industry Employers. Nikodem Nokielski and Szymon Rychter are also winners of the YOUNG INVENTOR 2022 competition as part of the 15th International Fair of Inventions and Innovation INTARG® 2022.
The "Medicine Dispenser" developed by our students can be used in places where a large group of people are dosed with the same type of medicine. These are hospitals, rehabilitation centres and nursing homes. After applying the card, the dispenser prepares appropriate medications for patients, entered in a specially developed database. The patient is assigned an ID that enables this activity. The device is designed to speed up the work of people and reduce the risk of making a mistake when disposing of drugs.
In June 2022, students applied to the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology with the desire to establish cooperation. The supervisor of young scientists is the Director of CITT, Dr Eng. Magdalena Letun-Łątka.
As part of the cooperation, young scientists have been provided with space to operate at the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology, where they are improving the project entitled “Medicine Dispenser", marked with a number Wp.31106 in the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.
Work on the device is still in progress and is carried out at the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology. The creators assume the performance of activities to improve the prototype, e.g. by adding further functionalities and optimizing some parts of the device in mechanical terms. The next version of the device assumes that it can also be used by private individuals.
Nikodem Nokielski and Szymon Rychter are first year, first degree students at the Silesian University of Technology - Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
