Silesian University of Technology received the title of Patron of Science and Innovation during the “Personality of the Year” plebiscite gala, which took place on May the 15th at the Gorczowski Hotel in Chorzów. The distinction was collected by Vice-Rector for General Affairs of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Bożena Skołud.

The “Personality of the Year” Gala is an initiative organized throughout Poland by regional newspapers and websites of the Polish Press publishing house. In Silesia it is held on the initiative of Dziennik Zachodni. This year’s distinction was awarded to people from the Silesian Voivodeship who, with their activity, passion and commitment, contributed something unique to social, cultural and professional life.

Silesian University of Technology was honoured with a special distinction on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Silesian University of Technology in the Science category and received the title of Patron of Science and Innovation.

For exactly 80 years, the Silesian University of Technology has been playing a unique role in the region as a patron of science, innovation and modern education, shaping the next generations of engineers, scientists and innovation leaders. The university is not limited to supporting students – it carries out its educational mission already at the stage of secondary schools, actively promoting the development of young people and their scientific interests.
