Silesian University of Technology signs agreement with Rossmann
The implementation of joint research and development projects, the organisation of training sessions, workshops and internships, as well as the employment of Silesian University of Technology graduates at the Distribution Centre in Pyskowice – these are the main objectives of the agreement between Silesian University of Technology and Rossmann. The agreement was concluded in Pyskowice on 5 September 2025.
The agreement was signed by Vice Rector for Science and International Cooperation, Prof. Sebastian Werle, and Marcin Mnich, Director of Rossmann’s Distribution Centre in Pyskowice.
All activities under the cooperation will be carried out at Rossmann’s Distribution Centre in Silesia.
“Above all, we see an opportunity to launch internships with a clear practical profile – ones that combine real operational challenges with the development of students’ competences and which, if both parties are interested, can be linked to project and thesis topics,” said Professor Sebastian Werle, Vice Rector for Science and International Cooperation of Silesian University of Technology.
“At the same time, we recognise a wide scope for further cooperation: from potential pilot projects in the ‘living lab’ model, through green logistics and the circular economy, to the use of data analytics and AI in process optimisation. We treat this agreement as opportunity to exchange knowledge jointly define needs, and gradually launch initiatives that will be both business-relevant and environmentally responsible,,” the Vice Rector emphasised.
When signing the agreement with the Silesian University of Technology, Rossmann representatives highlighted the importance of collaboration between business and academia.
“An essential element of the symbiosis between business and academia is cooperation from the outset. By knowing each other’s needs, expectations and complementary competences, it is easier to develop business or create valuable university courses, which in the future will translate into secure jobs in the labour market,” underlined Jacek Przerwa, Director of the Technical – Operations Department at Rossmann.
The joint activities will focus mainly on two faculties of the Silesian University of Technology: Organisation and Management, and Automatic Control, Robotics and Computer Science.
“We are one of the largest employers in Silesia. By cooperating with a prestigious university, we can indicate to students – already during their studies – the competences that will enable them to take up specialist positions at our distribution centre. At the same time, such students can get to know Rossmann, and after defending their thesis, immediately begin their professional careers. Graduates will be satisfied with an attractive and development-oriented workplace, while the company will be pleased to have a young, ambitious person who, from the very start, stands out with the right skills,” said Marcin Mnich, Director of Rossmann’s Distribution Centre in Pyskowice.
The key provisions of the signed agreement include, among others: the possibility of employing students and graduates at the Distribution Centre in Pyskowice, the implementation of student internships and placements, mutual promotion of both organisations, the arrangement and implementation of engineering and master’s thesis, the creation of research and development projects, training sessions, workshops, as well as student visits to the Centres in Pyskowice and Łódź.
Rossmann’s Distribution Centre has been operating in Pyskowice since 2014. From the outset, the company has cooperated with the local community in various areas.
