The Silesian University of Technology has advanced in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, securing a position in the 1001–1200 band. This marks a significant improvement compared with the previous year and confirms the University’s growing standing within the international academic community.

The Silesian University of Technology ranked highest among universities in Upper Silesia and within the top ten nationwide. Overall, six Polish universities were placed in the 1001–1200 band, while only four achieved higher positions.

The SUT achieved its highest scores in the Research Quality, which assesses the influence and significance of an institution’s research activity. This indicator takes into account, among others, publication citations and their impact on global science. The strong result in this category reflects the increasing recognition of the SUT’s research achievements and their contribution to the worldwide exchange of knowledge.

The SUT also recorded good results in the Industry metric – which measures collaboration with the business sector and income from industry-funded research – as well as in International Outlook, which evaluates the level of internationalisation of research, staff, doctoral candidates and students.

In the latest edition of the ranking, the University of Oxford was named the world’s top university, while in Poland the highest-ranked institutions were the Jagiellonian University and the Wroclaw Medical University.
