Silesian University of Technology Researchers Among the World’s Top 2% Most Cited Scientists

A total of 66 researchers affiliated with the Silesian University of Technology have been included in the latest World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, prepared annually by scholars from Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and SciTech Strategies.

The ranking is based on citation metrics of scientific publications and takes into account criteria such as the Hirsch index, total number of citations, as well as the author’s role and position in publications. Researchers are classified across 22 scientific fields, subdivided into 174 detailed sub-disciplines.

This is already the sixth edition of the ranking, which was first published in 2019 in PLOS Biology. It is based on a publicly available, standardised database presenting the publication achievements of scientists worldwide.

The results are presented in two lists:

• Table-1-Authors_career_2024 – reflecting scientific achievements across an entire career,
• Table-1-Authors_singleyr_2024 – focusing exclusively on citations received in 2024.

In total, 66 researchers affiliated with the Silesian University of Technology have been recognised among the most influential scientists in the world according to the adopted criteria.
