Silesian University of Technology is strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan
The delegation of the Silesian University of Technology participated in the proceedings of the 2nd Forum of Rectors of Poland and Uzbekistan, during which it established cooperation with three universities from this country. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by Prof. Sebastian Werle, Vice Rector for Science and international Cooperation.
On 23-24 April 2025, the Second Forum of Rectors of Poland and Uzbekistan took place in Warsaw and Lodz. The main sessions were held at the central campus of the University of Warsaw with the participation of a delegation from the Silesian University of Technology. Our University was represented by Prof. Sebastian Werle – Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation, Prof. Aleksander Sładkowski – Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia and Dr Eng. Grzegorz Kłapyta– head of the International Relations Office of the Silesian University of Technology.
The event is important for the development of academic cooperation between the two countries. The first Forum of Rectors of Poland and Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent and Samarkand in April 2023. It initiated a broad scientific and academic cooperation between the universities of these countries.
In this year’s edition of the event, the Uzbek side was represented by a delegation of about 50 rectors and vice-rectors, headed by the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of Uzbekistan.
There was no shortage of representatives of the Silesian University of Technology, which took advantage of the opportunity to establish new international relations.
During a special session, Vice-Rector Sebastian Werle, on behalf of the Silesian University of Technology, signed 3 new cooperation agreements with the following universities from Uzbekistan: Karshi State University, Westminster International University in Tashkent and Urgench State University.
