Silesian University of Technology is developing cooperation with Korea – new agreements with Sun Moon University
During this year’s edition of the Global Capstone Design 2026 workshop, which took place at the Silesian University of Technology on 25th -28th of May 2026, His Magnificence Prof. Marek Pawełczyk and Dr Moon Seong-Jea, President of Sun Moon University in Korea, signed two complementary cooperation agreements.
This initiative is another step in the development of the University’s internationalization and strengthening partnerships with leading academic centres in Asia.
The first agreement concerns international cooperation based on the Korean education program COSS (Convergence for Open Sharing System), developed in South Korea as part of government programs supporting the education of the future, implemented by consortia of universities. Sun Moon University works with seven other academic centres. Their aim is to create a common, open education system that integrates the various fields of science, academia, and industry.
The inclusion of these programs in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology will enable students to have easier access to Korean university courses, joint international projects, trips, or online programs, and to develop joint teaching and research initiatives.
The Rectors of both universities also signed a second agreement, which is strategic and defines a broad framework of cooperation between universities. This includes, among other things, the possibility of creating leading models of global cooperation between academia and industry, the development of joint courses and educational programs, the exchange of credit points between universities, the exchange of information including scientific publications, and the sharing of resources.
