Silesian University of Technology is developing cooperation with EDF in the field of nuclear energy
The Silesian University of Technology hosted a delegation from EDF, one of the largest European energy sector companies. The short but intensive meeting was of a working nature and was aimed at identifying opportunities for further development of cooperation between the university and industry.
The Silesian University of Technology was represented by: Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Prof. Anna Chrobok, Dr Eng. Dorota Homa and Dr Eng. Tomasz Bury. The meeting was attended by EDF representatives: Antoine Guelfi (Head of Business Development – International New Nuclear), Agnieszka Będkowska (Nuclear Services Developer, EDF International Nuclear Development) and Tomasz Jankowiak (Nuclear Business Development, EDF Representative Office in Poland – Nuclear Energy).
In the first part of the event, EDF representatives presented students of the fields of energy and nuclear energy the activities of the EDF Group in the field of nuclear energy, as well as possible career paths in this dynamically developing sector. The interactive form of the meeting was conducive to lively discussion and great involvement of the participants.
The second part of the meeting was devoted to the possibilities of supporting the didactic process in the field of nuclear energy. Potential directions of cooperation were discussed both in relation to students and academic staff.
During the talks, issues related to the 4NEW project, which aims to develop competences for the nuclear energy sector, were also clearly mentioned. EDF actively supported this project at the stage of preparation of the competition application.
The meeting was an important step toward further development of cooperation between academia and the energy industry.
