Silesian University of Technology is a member of the E-TDC research network
For the second time, the Silesian University of Technology has joined the European Technology Development Clusters Group – GE Research Network for European Technologies Development Clusters (E-TDC+). The agreement was signed by the Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof Sebastian Werle.
- E-TDC+ is a research network sponsored by Avio Aero. Our University joined the second edition, which will take place in the years 2025-2030 - said Dr Hab. Eng. Bogusław Mendala, Prof. SUT.
The European Technology Development Clusters bring together 29 research institutions and industrial entities in Italy, the UK, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Germany to further drive innovation through the implementation of a network collaboration model.
- In the aviation industry, investment in R&D is crucial to enable companies to consolidate their competitive position at the highest level. Engineers and researchers are deeply committed to applying state-of-the-art technologies to develop engine modules and systems for a sustainable future, using cost-effective and efficient processes. Avio Aero’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and meet the ongoing challenges of the market - emphasised Dr Hab. Eng. Bogusław Mendala, Prof. SUT.
- Belonging to the GE - E-TDC network of laboratories is very important to us because it means the opportunity to develop, work with the most modern materials used in aviation. The research conducted at the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Industry Digitization in Katowice concerns advanced heat-resistant materials and protective coatings used in modern and future aircraft engine designs – stressed the scientist.
