Silesian University of Technology in the top of the ranking of Patent Office of the Republic of Poland
The Silesian University of Technology once again confirms its strong position among the leading institutions in the country in terms of the number of patents granted. In the ranking of submissions by domestic and foreign entities, according to the number of patents granted in 2024, published by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, our University was ranked third in the country, with the result of 65 granted patents.
- This significant achievement is the result of the consistent work of research teams and scientific staff of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as effective organizational and substantive support provided by the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer. Our role is to accompany the creators of innovation at every stage – from the protection of intellectual property, through the patent process, to commercialization – emphasizes Dr Eng. Magdalena Letun-Łątka, director of CITT of the Silesian University of Technology.
The high place in the ranking is not only a reason to be proud of, but also a proof of the effectiveness of the strategy of supporting invention and technology transfer at the University.

This proves that the systemic approach to intellectual property management and CITT support really translate into the number and quality of patents obtained. The high place in the ranking is a motivation for further work on the development of research and their implementation in the economy - adds Dr Eng. The results confirm the consistent development of the scientific and research potential of the Silesian University of Technology and the involvement of the academic community in the creation of advanced technological solutions. Being among the top three Polish universities in terms of the number of patents obtained for another year in a row proves the high level of research conducted.
The results of the ranking are also proof that the Silesian University of Technology not only educates highly qualified engineers and scientists but also contributes to the development of modern technologies in Poland and strengthening the position of Polish science on the international arena.
