The annual report of the Polish Patent Office for 2021 has just been published. The Silesian University of Technology - by obtaining as many as 116 patents for inventions, as well as 4 protection rights for utility models and 7 registration rights for industrial designs - was among the most innovative organisations in Poland.
The Silesian University of Technology rose in the ranking compared to the previous year and is currently in fourth place among all submitting entities (domestic and foreign), according to the number of patents granted in 2021. It also ranks first in the Silesian Voivodeship.
In 2021, the Silesian University of Technology obtained as many as:
116 patents for inventions
4 protection rights for utility models
7 registration rights for industrial designs.
The Silesian University of Technology also took first place among all entities from the Silesian Voivodeship - its patents account for as much as 28 percent. all exclusive rights from our region.
Compared to all Polish universities, the patents of the Silesian University of Technology constitute over 7% of all passes.
The faculties of the Silesian University of Technology with the largest number of patents are: Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
- The patenting procedure at the Silesian University of Technology is consistently carried out by the patent attorneys of the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer and the patent attorney operating at the Rector’s Office. Our goal is to protect the results of the work of scientific employees of the Silesian University of Technology, and thus, a systematic increase in the number of protected solutions, which can be seen in the published rankings and reports - summarized the director of CITT, Dr. Magdalena Letun-Łątka.
