Silesian University of Technology awarded in the Marka Śląskie competition
The Academic Aviation Training Centre of the Silesian University of Technology and the Biotechnology Centre of the Silesian University of Technology awarded with the Marka Śląskie (Silesian Brand) statuette. The competition is organized by the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gliwice.
The aim of the competition is to promote the best enterprises, institutions, local governments, products, services and people, as well as to increase the economic, cultural and social attractiveness of the Silesian Voivodeship.
Among the winners was the Academic Aviation Training Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. The jury of the competition appreciated all the activities of the Centre, awarding the prize in the Service category.
– We have an international certificate giving us the right to train ATPL(A) "frozen" line pilots in an integrated system. Currently, 43 students have completed this training, carried out in a three-year cycle, and another 93 are continuing their education. In addition, obtaining the certificate in question allowed the Silesian University of Technology to apply for a target date for aviation training and maintenance of aviation training centres of the Silesian University of Technology. In the years 2018-2023, we received a subsidy of PLN 14 million. Thanks to this, students of the specialties: air navigation and aviation mechanics and operation in the field of: “Transport” can carry out their training to the level of ATPL(A) "frozen" line pilot with CPL(A), ME and IR ME(A) ratings and B1.1 license respectively. - turbine aircraft mechanic. The above achievements were the main motivation for awarding the Marka Śląskie distinction - emphasizes dr hab. Eng. pilot Jarosław Kozuba, prof. SUT – Director of the Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centre of Central and Eastern Europe at the Silesian University of Technology.
In the Marka Śląskie competition, the Biotechnology Centre of the Silesian University of Technology was also awarded in the Science category. The award was granted for scientific achievements and cooperation with research centres and business entities. - The dynamic growth of significant scientific publications affiliated with the Biotechnology Centre was also taken into account. An important aspect is also cooperation with the industry, as evidenced by the generation of know-how and intellectual property, in particular patents - said dr hab. Eng. Sebastian Student, prof. – This award is a great honour and proves that we are recognized and appreciated in the world of business and industrial centres. This is a great achievement not only for the Biotechnology Centre, but also for the entire Silesian University of Technology. This award will allow us to establish new contacts with entities associated in the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship and to implement new interdisciplinary projects in the future - noted the director.
The Marka Śląskie competition was held for the fourteenth time.
