Silesian University of Technology at the top of the ranking of Patent Office of the Republic of Poland
The Silesian University of Technology once again confirms its strong position among the leading institutions in the country in terms of the number of patents granted. In the ranking of submissions by domestic and foreign entities, according to the number of patents granted in 2024, published by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, our University was ranked third in the country, with the result of 65 granted patents.
This significant achievement is the result of the consistent work of research teams and scientific staff of the Silesian University of Technology, as well as effective organizational and substantive support provided by the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer (CITT) and the Patent Ombudsman Office (BRP). The key role in this process is played by patent attorneys operating within the structures of both entities, who cooperate with the creators from the moment of evaluation of the inventive potential of the proposed solutions, through the preparation of full application documentation to the UPRP, to obtaining a decision on granting a patent for an invention. Thanks to specialist support of patent attorneys, it is possible to secure patent protection effectively, which results in obtaining a high position of the Silesian University of Technology in the nationwide ranking of granted patents in 2024.

Silesian University of Technology has consistently maintained a high position among national research and development units in terms of the number of exclusive rights granted. This result confirms the effectiveness of both substantive and procedural support from our patent attorneys.
The results of the ranking are also proof that the Silesian University of Technology not only educates highly qualified engineers and scientists, but also substantially contributes to the development of modern technologies in Poland and strengthening the position of Polish science on the international arena.
