Silesian University of Technology at the International APAIE Conference in Thailand
Representatives of the Silesian University of Technology took part in the APAIE - Asia-Pacific Association for International Education International Conference , which was held in Bangkok, Thailand. APAIE is a key event for representatives of higher education, promoting international education and cooperation in this area with the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference was held from 13th to 17th March 2023 at the "Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre" in Bangkok. The theme of this year's edition of APAIE was sustainable development. Many of the workshops and panel sessions focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education, as well as sustainability priorities after the health crisis.
Parallel to the conference, a higher education fair was held, where the Silesian University of Technology presented its scientific, research and didactic offer at the Polish stand organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
This event was an excellent opportunity to present the scientific and research potential of our University, as well as to hold bilateral talks on the possibility of cooperation not only with Thai universities, but also with universities from around the world. This year's edition gathered over 2,700 participants representing nearly 70 countries from around the world. Participants had the opportunity to visit over 300 stands in the fair part.
The Polish stand was represented by seven Polish universities: Medical University of Gdańsk, Silesian University of Technology, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, University of Economics in Katowice, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Jagiellonian University, Warsaw University of Business. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by Joanna Hanak and Katarzyna Wojewódka from the International Relations Office.
In addition, after the end of the APAIE fair and conference, the Polish delegation met with Ambassador Waldemar Dubaniowski at the seat of the Polish Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand. During the meeting, the past fairs and conference were summarized and a discussion on planned activities in the future regarding closer cooperation between Polish universities and the Asia-Pacific region ensued.
